This is how to tell your story:
They say every artwork tells a story.
Social Media says to tell ‘your’ story.
“Story telling is the new trend.”
During this new “evolution” having gone quiet during this winter, I’ve recognized a few themes:
Stories of one’s lives often turn into a badge of victimhood, an excuse that explains the lack of accountability for one’s lack of progression.
I’m guilty.
But aren’t we all?
As an audience, we’re supposed to have empathy, sympathy, and understanding…
“We listen and we don’t judge.”
No, we do, actually.
Everyone does.
As artists, we’re supposed to have open minds, and free speech… and all these other rules…
But according to society’s standards, we break all the rules.
There are too many damn contradictions in this world.
Too much division.
Your side vs my side.
Call me angry, or fed up, but I’m kinda tired of the all the depression, anxiety, and “fill in the blank”
Yeah… me too.
But I choose to make art.
And this isn’t some self righteous boast of a lifestyle…
This is reality for some people. We just don’t need a badge of “honor” to say … “Oh, I have problems too… “
Cuz quite frankly, I don’t care to have them, but mine are the kind you can’t control.
Hence, this evolution.
Silence.
Thought.
Reflection.
Redirection.
Action.
Focus,
My new medium has been this heavy gel medium, and molding paste…
“The Art of Letting Go” if you will.
I’m tired of the memories, the throwbacks, and the reminiscing.
I’ve been through hell and back… You don’t need the details.
I’m still breathing.
My heart still beats.
And I have a fire in me that will never go out.
I’m moving on.
The past doesn’t matter anyway.
It’s gone.
Let it go.
Begin again.
And again
And again
Take it from the top.
Again .
Arrive at a destination.
Move forward.
Try something new.
Be something different.
How many changes can you make in a year, with the least amount of resources?
I challenge you.
Come back Jan 27, 2027.
